Cycling party awaits in Villages of the Ronde Beernem, Aalter, and Zulte
Tour of Flanders will start again from Bruges on Sunday, April 6. Just like in 2023, Beernem, Aalter, and Zulte can call themselves "Villages of the Ronde." Discover what there is to experience during the High Mass!
Cycling Madness Takes Over Beernem
Beernem is the first Village of the Ronde to welcome and cheer on the riders with open arms. While the world’s cycling elite speeds through the roads of West Flanders, the people of Beernem turn the weekend into a vibrant cycling celebration. Beernem is a true hotspot for nature lovers. The Bulskampveld landscape park is the most forested area in West Flanders. With its own boat ramp and 115 docks, Beernem’s inland marina is one of the largest in the country. And at the German bunker in the town square, visitors can immerse themselves in wartime history.
Aalter Turns into One Big Cycling Festival
With seven festival zones, Aalter transforms the Ronde's passage into a true celebration. A lively atmosphere, DJs, and the peloton passing through turn the race into a festive weekend. This Meetjesland town has more to offer than just a passion for cycling. In winter, the Kraenepoel turns into a beautiful natural ice-skating rink. Poeke Castle, surrounded by French and English gardens, is an impressive architectural gem. Lastly, Aalter boasts a rich cycling history: the 1914 Tour of Flanders winner, Marcel Buysse, proudly called Aalter his hometown.
A Warm and Stylish Welcome in Zulte
One municipality, three villages, and three festival zones: Zulte is fully ready to propel the peloton towards Oudenaarde. The villages of Zulte, Olsene, and Machelen offer all the ingredients for a successful cycling weekend. Beyond the festival zones, visitors can take part in activities such as the Tour of Flanders Quiz or the Royal Tour Breakfast. But Zulte is more than just a stop in the Tour of Flanders. Located along the Leie River, it is steeped in history and nature. The French military cemetery on Dorpsstraat is the final resting place of 750 fallen soldiers from World War I and is a protected monument. Castle te Lake, built in the 13th century, is a serene retreat surrounded by greenery and connected to scenic towpaths.
